This year Hello Kitty turns 40 and to celebrate the loveable Sanrio character has teamed up with Japanese pearl purveyor Mikimoto. With 20 pieces scheduled to be unveiled late January 2014, the playful pieces are sure to perk up the ears of fans everywhere. As with anything Mikimoto, most if not all pieces will be priced out of reach for the average consumer. Price aside, how can you not love what they've done with the cute cat?



This Hello Kitty inspired 12 strand pearl rope is comprised of Akoya pearls, diamonds, rubies and black onyx.It can be yours for only $275,000 USD.

This cute silver bangle with Akoya pearl accent is a little more affordable at around $500 USD.



The 20 piece collection is slated for debut at the Mikimoto Ginza main store, then Asia and Europe afterwards. I couldn't find any mention of plans to release the line in the USA.
